I'm so tired

I don’t know about you, but I am a very tired person.

I am not a morning person and absolutely love sleep! If I could sleep in every day, I’d be one happy girl! Sleep is obviously very important. If we don’t sleep, it messes with our entire body, especially our brain. In fact, studies show that people who are sleep deprived and are driving are more dangerous than those who are drinking and driving. Now, this isn’t a post on the importance of sleep (although, you should be getting your 7-9 hours a night!). The point is, whenever we’re tired, we need to rest. We do this in order to be refreshed and renewed in strength.

Every now and then, I find myself really. Emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually tired. Tired of all the burdens I carry, tired of all the schoolwork I have, tired of the endless hours at work, tired of feeling sad or anxious, tired of not feeling God’s presence, and so on.

When I find myself in that situation, I realize I desperately need some one-on-one time with Jesus. I like to call this a “Jesus Date”. A time where it’s just Jesus and me. A time where I can pray, journal, read, cry, laugh, and listen to what He is trying to tell me. 100% of all Jesus Dates I’ve had, I’ve come away feeling rested, feeling renewed, and strengthened.

Take some time from your busy day today and spend some time with God. Cry out to him and let the Great Comforter wrap His arms around you. Jesus is speaking, are you listening?

Reflect on these texts:

Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken. Psalm 55:22

Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
Psalm 91:1

Write out how God spoke to you through these passages in your journal.

  • Spend some quality time with your Heavenly Father today and try not to say “thank you” or “give me”, but instead talk to him like you would a friend. Tell him what is on your heart and take time to catch up!
